Cervical Screening has changed
As many of you will already be aware, from December 2017 Australia changed the program for screening for cervical cancer.
Under our previous program, women who had a prior normal pap smear, were encouraged to have a pap smear every 2 years.
From December 1st 2017, women with a previously normal pap smear will now be offered cervical screening every 5 years. Young women who haven’t ever been sexually active will need to have their cervical screening at 25 years of age, instead of 18 years of age under the previous program.
For more information on this new process, please see the National Cervical Screening Program website.
