Flu Vaccine appointments opening on 20th April at Blackbutt
Our surgery will commence the annual flu vaccine on Wednesday 20th April 2022, we will begin by vaccinating the following age groups:
- 6 months to 4 years and 11 months – Government funded vaccine
- 5 years to 9 years and 11 moths – Private $10 fee when booking this appointment
- 65 years and over – Government funded vaccine
- 5 years to 64 years for those who are medically at risk – Government funded vaccine, please see below for the criteria for this group of patients:
- All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
- All children aged 6 months to less than 5 years of age (including Aboriginal and medically at risk)
- All individuals aged 5 years and over with medical risk conditions, namely:
- Cardiac disease, including cyanotic congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure
- Chronic respiratory conditions, including suppurative lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and severe asthma requiring hospitalisation in the last 12 months
- Obesity where the BMI is ≥30kg/m2
- Other chronic illnesses requiring regular medical follow up or hospitalisation in the previous year, including diabetes mellitus, chronic metabolic diseases, chronic renal failure, and haemoglobinopathies
- Chronic neurological conditions that impact on respiratory function, including multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and seizure disorders
- Impaired immunity, including HIV, malignancy and chronic steroid use
- Children aged 6 months to 10 years on long term aspirin therapy
- Pregnant women (influenza vaccine can be given at any stage of pregnancy).
All bookings can be made via our AMS connect app or via our website. The booking system will be live as of Monday 11/04/2022.
